1 Gujiya : Gujiya is the most popular dish for Holi celebrations. It's a fried dough pockets that are filled with delicious filling of khoya, nuts and jaggery or you can try your own mixture as per your taste to make it more interesting. Then you have to deep it into the sugar syrup for the traditional sweet taste.

People in Haryana, Delhi, UP, MP and in Bihar make gujjiya in their home for holi festival. People in Rajasthan make Guiya in Diwali and during the Teej also. It's like their main sweet item for the festival season.

People also call it Chashni Wali Gujiya or Mawa Gujiya in different different regions.

  • Refined Flour मैदा - 2 cup (250 grams)
  • Mawa मावा - 1 Cup (200 grams)
  • Powdered Sugar पिसी हुई चीनी - 1/2 Cup (80 grams)

2 Puran Poli : Puran Poli is Maharashtra's special snack. Maharashtrial people love puranpoli and they make this dish for every festival celebration.

It's a flat bread with sweet chana dal, nutmeg and cardamom filling inside. It's another decent sweet dish.

  • Chana dal – ½ cup (100 grams) (soaked)

Maharashtrian Pooran Poli Recipe - Holi Special





3 : Dahi Vada : In some places of India It's very difficult to spend Holi festival without this delicious dish Dahi Vada.

It's UP's dish. Basically, it's fried bite-sized balls of gram flours doused with yogurt and topped with tasty masalas (Garam Masala or other Traditional Masala) and you need to have it with tamarind chutney. It's combinatioal of some tasty traditional Indian flavors which will fill your mouth with full of taste.

  • Urad dal - 1 cup (250 grams) (soaked)
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup (grated)
  • Green coriander - 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Cashews - 7 to 8 (finely chopped)

  • Ginger - 1 inch (minced)
  • Asafoetida - 1 inch (minced)

4 : Jilipi - People in Bengal (India) used to celebrate Holi in their own way or you can say in their own tradition. They celebrate Holi as "Dol Jatra" and is associated with eternal love of Krishna and Radha. They play with Gulaal (Organic powder color) to spread the colors of love and joy on everyone.

Jilipi is the traditional dish of Bengal and it's same like another India Sweet "Jalebi".

    5 : Malpua is also star attraction for Holi Festival in India. It's India's one of the oldest sweet/dessert .

    In India malpuas have been eaten since over 3000-3500 years. People in Bihar, make malpuas in Holi festival celebration. It's Indian pancake fried in ghee and dipped in sugar syrup. You can enjoy it alone or with anything you like to have sweet bread.
