Encounter in Pulwama Killed Four Army and One Civilian

Early morning today, encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists that killed four Army including one Major and one civilian in J&K’s Pinglan area of Pulwama district, after a joint team of forces launched an operation.

According to ANI, the four Army martyed in the encounter were Major VS Dhoundiyal, Havaldar Sheo Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.

A joint team search operation was started last night by J-K Police, army and CRPF jawans after a news of Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist group hiding in the Pinglan area. Five army were wounded in this operation and those killed Army belong to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles.

“There was firing only initial half an hour and then it stopped, ” said a police officer. “The searches in the area continue”.

After the deadliest terror attack, the CRPF has decided to squeeze the SOP (standard operating procedures) built to protect its convoys. "We have decided to add new features to our convoy movement to and from Kashmir," said CRPF Director General RR Bhatnagar.

Mr. RR Bhatnagar added, "Apart from traffic control, there will be changes in the timings of a convoy, their halt locations and movement in coordination with other security forces like the Army and the J-K police."

Two to three terrorists are assumed to be hiding in the area and yet firing is ongoing.

The encounter follows within a week after 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a Pulwama terror attack on 14 February. The responsibility was claimed by Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM.
